Fiber Reinforced Self Leveling Mortar

Fiber-reinforced self-leveling mortar, known as SLM™ 600, is a versatile and durable cement-based compound engineered for underfloor heating systems and wooden floors. By simply adding water, this mortar creates a smooth and self-leveling mixture that quickly dries to form a robust and flexible surface. It serves as an ideal base for various conventional flooring types or can be used as the final covering material.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar is a premium cement-based flooring solution that provides superior performance and aesthetics. Engineered with reinforced steel fibers, this mortar offers exceptional strength, durability, and leveling properties for a wide range of applications.

The self-leveling nature of this mortar allows for easy application, ensuring a smooth and even surface with a thickness ranging from 3 to 10 mm. Our Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar delivers excellent results, whether for underfloor heating systems or wooden floors.

One of the standout features of this mortar is its high wear resistance, guaranteeing long-lasting durability in high-traffic areas. It effectively disperses and flows, eliminating the risk of shrinkage during drying.

Thanks to its organic adhesives, our Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar exhibits exceptional cohesion and adhesion strength once hardened. This ensures superior resistance against compressive forces and contributes to the longevity of the flooring.

With outstanding water penetration resistance, this mortar offers reliable protection against moisture-related issues. Its color seamlessly blends with concrete, creating a visually appealing finish. Additionally, the high tensile strength of the mortar enhances its performance and longevity.

Implementing our Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar is hassle-free, and it provides numerous benefits. It reduces the need for excessive water usage during the mixing process, saves on material costs, and yields a remarkably smooth and robust surface that serves as an excellent base for various flooring materials.

Moreover, this mortar is versatile and can be applied not only on concrete surfaces but also on ceramic tiles or even plywood, expanding its potential applications. Its quick drying time ensures efficient project completion, minimizing downtime.

In summary, our Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar offers a comprehensive flooring solution that combines strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Experience the advantages of easy application, exceptional wear resistance, reliable water penetration protection, and the flexibility to be used as a standalone floor covering or as a base for other flooring materials. Elevate your flooring projects with our high-quality Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Mortar.

Application Instructions

Preparation of the Substrate:

  • Ensure the surface is dry, healthy, and free from moisture, dust, oil, paint, silicone, drying agents, and detergents that may hinder adhesion.
  • The surface temperature should be at least +10 degrees Celsius.
  • Remove any loose material from the surface.
  • Repair cracks on the surface using Afzir’s floor concrete repair mortar.
  • Wet the prepared substrate evenly by saturating it with water, leaving standing water on the surface.
  • Fill cold joints and minor cracks (up to 1 mm) with filler mortar.

Execution of Fiber Self-Leveling Mortar:

  • Empty a 25 kg bag of fiber self-leveling mortar into a bucket containing 6.3-6.8 liters of clean water.
  • Stir the mixture for 3-5 minutes until a uniform consistency is achieved.
  • To ensure excellent adhesion, use Afzir’s floor leveling mortar as a primer on the substrate, applying it with a brush.
  • Apply the mixed mortar onto the wet primer using a trowel.
  • Release trapped air with a bubble roller after application.
  • Under normal conditions, the leveled surface is ready for pedestrian traffic after 48 hours and for vehicular traffic after 72 hours.
  • For heavy traffic conditions, allow 7 days of curing time.

Spreading Fiber Self-Leveling Mortar:

  • Spread the fiber self-leveling mortar in a layer of 3 to 10 mm using a large metal trowel or rubber spreader.
  • the mortar quickly eliminates trowel marks and other imperfections due to its self-leveling properties.
  • If a second layer is required, it should not be applied (at +23°C) until approximately 3 hours after walking on the first layer.
Guide to Quality Control (QC)

 Alkaline Reaction:

Self-leveling mortar contains cement, which can cause an irritating alkaline reaction when in contact with sweat or body fluids.

 Eye Damage:

Allergic reactions to self-leveling mortar can lead to eye damage, particularly for susceptible individuals.

Immediate Washing and Medical Consultation:

If self-leveling mortar comes into contact with eyes or skin, it is crucial to wash the affected area immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

It is recommended to wear gloves and protective glasses when handling self-leveling mortar to minimize potential risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use two layers of fiber self-leveling mortar?

Yes, you can use multiple layers on top of each other. Just make sure the first layer is completely dry and hard before adding the second layer. Also, apply a primer like any other concrete floor, unless your new screed has a built-in primer.

Can self-leveling floor mortar be used as a final coating?

Self-leveling mortar dries in a short time to a hard flexible surface that can be covered with most conventional floors or left as a finishing surface.

What is the thickness of fiber self-leveling mortar?

Fiber self-leveling cement-based mortar reinforced with steel fibers is a self-leveling floor and is applied with a thickness of 3 to 10 mm.

Is it necessary to trowel to implement self-leveling mortar?

No, because the s mortar is a self-leveling type and no special tools are needed for leveling.

What is the chemical basis of self-leveling mortar?

Fiber self-leveling mortar is a flexible and high-strength cement-based self-leveling mortar.

Is the floor fiber leveling mortar strong?

One of the characteristics of self-leveling mortar is that it does not need to add much water, which means less mess. It creates a very smooth surface that is also very strong. While this makes it an ideal base for other flooring, the floor is also smooth and sturdy enough to stand on its own as a flooring option.

Can you walk on self-leveling compound?

Most concrete floor leveling compounds dry quickly, so they can be walked on after only 4 hours and completely dry after 24 hours. After this step, you can install other types of flooring on the concrete floor.
