Protecting buildings against fire by using mineral-based anti-fire coatings or expandable paints
Protecting structures and buildings against fire is one of the most important issues in the design and construction of structures and in recent years, in particular, has attracted the attention of researchers and codes of the construction industry. Fire-retardant coatings consisting of two groups of mineral base materials and spray paints are materials that are applied on the members of the steel and concrete structures, and postpone the time to reach the critical temperature of the members that result in deterioration of their strength and stiffness. This provides enough time for inhabitants of the building, as well as firefighting forces to leave the site or to shut off the fire.
